The US Defense Department announced that 200 soldiers of the California National Guard were transferred to Portland to "assist ICE and other government staff executing their jobs".

"Leader Trump exercised his legal power to protect government facilities and employees in Portland after violent protests and assaults on officers," presidential spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said.

Earlier Demonstrations in California Led to Earlier Deployment
