Jim Gavin Withdraws From Ireland's Presidential Election Right Away
The Fianna Fáil nominee Jim Gavin has declared he is withdrawing from the race for Ireland's head of state right away.
He was poised to be a candidate among three competing for Ireland's head of state, alongside Independent TD Catherine Connolly and Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys.
Yet, late Sunday he stated in a statement that he "erred which did not align with his character and the standards I set myself."
"Considering all these factors, I have decided to withdraw from the presidential election contest with immediate effect and go back to my family," he stated via a statement.
